Electric Powered Cars: Cars Of Next Generation

If you believe that Science is responsible for all the destruction caused to humanity; you should also agree with me when I say it is a savior to mankind on this Planet at the same time. If it had introduced high tech Automobiles in the last century, it had also sky rocketed the levels of pollutants in the environment in the same century. And in this century which succeeds the world of energy crisis and environmental problems, electric powered cars come as a new gift from Science to us.

It shuns all the worries for depleting fuel resources or fuel reservoir exhaustion, rising prices and environmental degradation. So, let's study various aspects of these cars of new generation.

An electric power car is very simply defined as the vehicle which utilizes the stored chemical energy of rechargeable batteries and has electric motors and electric controllers in lieu of an engine which uses internal combustion for energy derivation. There are two types of electric cars- simple electric car and hybrid cars.

The cars which have both Internal Combustion Engine and electric motors and controllers are called hybrid cars. Toyota Prius and Honda Insight are hybrid cars. They are not pure electric vehicles because they can use the regular fuels for internal combustion and energy when the batteries loose their charges. And when the car uses the regular fuels for functioning the batteries get charged by that time.

Pure Electric vehicles are electric cars which use single engine set to derive energy from chemical energy stored in the batteries. When the batteries loose charge you need to plug them with home electricity boards to charge them. Hence they are also called plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). A full charged battery gives back up depending on circumstances.

The looks of the electric car may be different or may look like any other ordinary car. Some manufacturers try to give them concept designs and looks, so that at the first instance you can say that they are electric cars. While other manufacturers keep the basic design of the regular fuel cars. It is only when you drive, you know about its electric features. It does not produce noise as made by the traditional cars.

What is the difference between gasoline and electric car?

There are many differences between gasoline and electric cars. It has been already mentioned that they don't have an engine where internal combustion of gasoline takes place. Rather the controller provides the power to electric motor. In a gasoline car you have engineering concepts like fuel pipes and lines, exhaust pipes, intake manifold, coolant hoses and other things.

An electric car is all about wiring projects. They don't have exhaust pipes since they produce no fumes. Other benefits of electric cars are: they reduce dependency on crude oil and its by-products, no greenhouse gas emissions, utilize very less electricity to get charged and many more.

Today almost all major brands of luxury cars like Ford, Toyota Honda and others are trying their best to make electric powered cars. All want to lead the race of making cars of next generation thus reducing the pressure on fossil fuels and saving the environment dramatically from pollution and global warming.
