Alternative Fuels

Alternative Fuels Are Environment Friendly

All of us know about fossil fuels that are conventional sources of energy and have been in use for quite some time now. Alternative fuels on the other hand are called non conventional fuels. These are derived from renewable sources of energy and are much in demand.

The causes of the demand of alternative green fuels are many. There is a limit to the use of conventional fuels as their resources are limited. But green fuels are renewable in nature and there is no fear of shortage of this fuel.

Conventional fuels are not environment friendly and pollute the environment decisively. But green fuels are less pollutant and are therefore called environment friendly. The exploitation of conventional sources of energy is about to reach the saturation point and so there is debate as to substitute them with more efficient fuels.

This very debate has stirred the production and use of green fuels such as ethanol, bio diesel, hydrogen energy, methane gas, wood, natural gas and electricity generated through chemical reaction. Moreover the concept of sustainable development has also resulted in the popularity of green fuels.

Above all, the automobiles do not require any medication for using these green fuels. Moreover there are social, political and economical considerations also behind the use and application of the green fuels.

Environmental concerns all over the world have created a need of political consensus to fight against the pollution. It has led a fierce competition among the various countries to produce more and more green fuels to claim that they are trying to contribute to the process which has been initiated to halt the ozone depletion.

Moreover the world of today is facing oil crisis resulting in the rising prices of oil and gas energy. On the other hand energy consumption is increasing day by day. There it is being felt across the globe that to sustain the economic development it is indispensable to find out alternative sources of energy; if otherwise most of the developed and developing countries will have to compromise on their economic front and their industries will have to suffer.

So at last they have to fall back upon the alternative green fuels. A good aspect of the green fuels is that some, if not all of them, are cost effective also. For example bio fuels manufacturing do not require heavy investment like that of hydrogen or geothermal energy. These bio fuels are manufactured from agricultural products and are equally effective like that of conventional fuels.

But such is not the case with other alternative fuels. Exploiting tidal energy, wind energy, solar energy or hydrogen is a big deal and requires heavy investment and infrastructure also. However, for the best interest of the society there is an emphasis on the use of green fuels. If this trend goes on, there is every possibility that climatic conditions through out the world will improve.
