Alternative Fuel Sources- A Guide
The limitations and costs of the fossil fuels are rising day by day. It has become a prime concern for the both the Head of States as well as their people. Now they are looking for the alternative fuel sources. Therefore the alternate sources such as bio diesel, ethanol, solar, hydrogen and hydrogen have become the main area of research and development.
Hydrogen is very expensive and dangerous. Therefore most of the automobile manufacturers are hesitant to take any initiative in this direction. It also requires high level of scientific and technical maneuver to exploit hydrogen energy. Solar power and electricity generated by chemicals are very effective but there is a problem regarding there availability.
However ethanol as of now has become very popular source of alternative fuel. But production of ethanol is also not hassle free. It is manufactured from corn but corn production itself needs more fuel than what is produced from the corm itself. Hence the farming of the corn is not economical.
But still corn production is emphasized all over the US as most of the vehicles owners prefer to use green fuel. This is good for environment but will be as expensive as a conventional fuel only. Besides these aspects, there is one more factor that can delay the use of ethanol as a main source of fuel for automobiles. The ethanol fuel needs to be run over ethanol engine only. Bio fuel on the other hand is quite a viable option. It can be used in cars without any modification in the engine. In other words all the existing cars can use bio diesel and operate easily. Bio diesel is manufactured by different types of vegetable oils, soy bean and recycled vegetable oil. This diesel can be used in any engine and is more efficient than the conventional diesel. It gives good mileage and is environment friendly. Precisely speaking it does not pollute the environment the way conventional diesel pollutes. All the more it is easily available and process involved in the manufacturing of bio diesel is also not very complicated. There are bio diesel processors available in the market. These processors make use of used-vegetable oil to manufacture bio diesel. The process is quick and the cost involved is also not of much significance. Thus in comparison to other alternative fuels bio diesel is safe, cheap economical and easy to use. Electricity stored in the form of chemical is also one of the alternative fuel sources. Though producing current this way is not very complicated but there is a problem in the transportation of the current producing chemicals wherever they are required. This is the limitation of this energy source.
